Meeting the English Rose
Well my dream finally came true of meeting the wonderful and talented Jane Seymour.
I learned that Jane was on a promotional tour for her new line of House wares for Parisian and that she was coming as close to Tennessee as Alabama and I knew I had to go, so my husband Scott, my son Stephen, and I all jumped in the car and drove on down. Gael as most of you know lives in AL so she meet us there we all went and had lunch and then went to Parisian's. Jane was beautiful and charming as always. She truly is just as beautiful in person as she is on television. She wore a gorgeous aqua dress and looked absolutely radiant. My son who is four and a half just loves Jane. As soon as she came onto the stage, he leaned over to me and said "Mama it's Dr. Quinn!" He told me he was going to tell her he was going to marry her on the way there. She spoke on the various aspects and inspirations for the collections for about fifteen to twenty minutes, then took a few questions from the audience. Afterwards she signed autographs and took photos with the fans. Stephen lost his nerve when he actually got to her and didn't ask her to marry him, but he did give her the dozen roses that he brought for her. She loved them and when I told her that he had said he wanted to marry her, she said "Awww how sweet." She called a lady that was with her over and asked her to please put the roses in one of her vases for her and put some water on them. She thanked Stephen and I again and signed his "That One" stuffed kitty for him, and several things for me. I so wanted a photograph of him with her but he just couldn't stand still long enough. I told her that I worked on her website Friends of Jane and that I was the one that designed the calendar for her this year and her eyes lit up and she remembered me she said "Oh yes! Those were goregous you did a wonderful job on those. (note I could have died happy right then LOL) She also asked me what I thought of the collections I told her they were beautiful. The atmosphere was rushed the snooty Parisian people were pushing everyone one along like they were cattle, but Jane was very personable, and sweet. Smiling, talking, and even asking questions herself of what we thought of the collection. But they (the Parisian heifers as I now call them) were making Jane mad you could tell she looked pretty peeved at them at times. They were VERY rude and rushing everyone no joke they even were wanting me to move along when Jane was talking to me and asking me a question. About this time Stephen got away from me and when I went to get him I lost my place in line and the snooty parisian people wouldn't let me back in even to take a photo with her and they knew I had just been there. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR So here I was fighting not to cry because I had so wanted to get a photo with her. But I wasn't going to cause a scene there in front of Jane. She had already done one show at another store in AL that morning and you could tell she was tired, but it wasn't her fault after all it was the stupid store people. So I was just going to buck up and wait until May at the Home show in VA and get a photo with her there. But Scott and Gael both said NO WAY you go over there and catch her when she comes off stage. I said no she is tired and very busy and no I just can't. Gael said there is no way you are coming all this way and not getting a picture with her this is your day! I"M going to ask and off she went so here I am trialing behind her going "NO Gael please don't do that GAEL!!!!!!" So Jane gets done signing everyones Auto's and comes down off theplatform and immediately the snooty heifers start to crowd around her and are about to usher her off. When Gael walks right up and says Excuse me. Jane turned around smiled and said "Yes?" Gael said could I just get a quick picture of you and my friend and Jane looked over saw me and smiled and said "SURE!" She walked out of the little Parisian peoples circle right up to me and put her arm around me and hugged me up for the photo. I could have died! I never expected her to hug me up for the photo ( I may never wash that sweater again.) And by the way her hair was down so when I put my arm around her I was like OMS man her hair is soft. So Gael snapped the picture for me and I turned to Jane and said thank you I'm sorry I was going to get one earlier but my son was misbehaving. Jane said "It's no problem believe me I understand that." LOL I guess she does with two twin boys heheheheh. SO I was able to get a photo taken with her thanks to Gael she is my hero now!!!!! I owe you BIG TIME girl. You know I loved Jane before but now I really think even more of her than I did before because she went out of her way for me, that meant more to me than I can say. NIAIW (not in an icky way) It was a wonderful day and an outstanding experience and truly an honor to meet her. She is an amazing woman. Jane was all that I thought she would be and much much more. There is only one English Rose. Thank you Jane your the best! Jennifer J. Click to enlarge photos
